How to Read & Process Psychological Material
A lot of people pick up a self-help or psychological book...
Commuting to university from home or living on campus, taking a gap year, grad school or simply figuring out what’s next, the time after high school is a completely unique and challenging situation for each person. Most of us get a lot of “advice” from people or we’re told what we “should do.” This can lead to a lot of complications and mixed feelings. To make it even more difficult, we can often react with insecurity about our own choices when we learn how our friends and peers are moving forward. Not to mention that we’re stuck in this irritating in-between state of full adulthood while still being dependent on others for support. The therapists at Wakeful who work with young adults have a good and general understanding of the challenges younger adults face. They’ll work hard to understand and support you so you can confidently get things figured out.
While each therapist at Wakeful has their own style and skill level, our approach emphasizes many of the same things. This is because these clients share many similar characteristics and circumstances, yet each is extremely unique. Most want some support in the form of mentorship, to help figure things out or to be guided a bit…but without being told what to do. Our general approach is just this, and more. To give you some ideas as to what’s focused upon in sessions we’ve compiled a few short lists:
We take BCBS PPO plans, Aetna, Optum/United, Cigna and of course, private pay. We’re in process of getting credentialed with TriWest/TriCare and will update our list when it’s completed.
